Making the Most of Your New Year

Every new year brings with it a kind of new opportunity. It is our chance to re-evaluate and re-align our lives for the season that lies ahead. I believe that God set this system up so that we would remember that He is the God of New Beginnings and that because of His grace and mercy we can start over and continue to improve our lives and how we live them.

With that thought in mind, I thought it would be good to look at a few ways to go about setting our goals and making plans for the days ahead.

The first thing I do when looking to my new year is look back at the previous year for the victories and successes in my life. I want to remember those and carry the attitude of gratitude forward. And, I want to remember the lessons learned so that I can continue doing what works.
Next, we have to determine where we want to go or what we want to accomplish in the new year. You are pretty well guaranteed that you will miss the target if you don’t first identify it. Take a few minutes and just think, dream and pray about specific areas you want to improve or things you want to achieve and make a list. Once your  list is made you can sort it out and form a plan and determine the steps you need to take to start heading toward your goals.
I recommend that you make yourself a weekly accountability appointment where you check  your progress or lack of it and plan for how to keep making positive strides in the right direction.
